It is time again for the grape harvest at the Cannon River Winery. I did this last year and really enjoyed the experience. It is four spent on the hill side near Cannon Falls in the vinyard harvesting grapes and learning about wine and how they make it. The process has not changed that much in thousands of years, and I felt the history as I cut a grape bunch of the vine. I highly recommend this.

As the warmth of summer begins to wane, our grapes reach the critical balance of sweetness and acidity, signaling the start of the harvest. At their peak of ripeness, we pluck the grapes from the vine with our very own hands to preserve the integrity of the fruit and to ensure our wine is of the highest quality. It’s an age-old tradition that connects us back to the earth and to simpler times.
Your journey for this exclusive event begins at our nearby Vineyard, where you’ll get the unique opportunity to pick grapes by hand amongst the lush rolling hills of the picturesque Sogn Valley. You’ll learn about the history of the vineyard and the art of growing grapes as you breathe in the crisp Autumn air and feel the warm Indian summer sun on your back.
After working up a hearty appetite, you’ll dine alfresco with the gorgeous vineyard as a backdrop. You’ll be treated to a well-earned catered meal and we’ll guide you through a tasting of our vast selection of handcrafted, award-winning wines. From dry whites to full-bodied reds and luscious blushes, you’ll taste our passion for perfection in every single drop.
Once you’ve had a chance to relax, we’ll travel back to our historic winery, where you’ll see our experienced winemaker in action as he de-stems and crushes the grapes from the day’s harvest. Then he’ll guide you through the winemaking process and give you a tour of our working winery. With limestone walls, rustic d?cor and an antique tasting bar, the winery’s atmosphere is the perfect accompaniment to our sumptuous wines.
If you’re not quite ready for the day to end, we invite you to take a seat in our tasting room – and if you stay into the evening, you just might catch a live musical performance.
Your grape picking experience wouldn’t be complete without a taste of the wines you helped to create. In March, we’ll invite you back for an exclusive tank tasting so you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Reservations are required for this exclusive event. The harvest fills up quickly, so please register today!
